New Year of Affection: "Signal Hapan Sina" with Manusath Derana & Ada Derana Education – Colombo April 2026
This Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Manusath Derana together with Signal and Ada Derana Education Digital carried out a heartfelt initiative titled "Signal Hapan Sina", dedicated to the hearing-impaired children of the Ratmalana School. The celebration was not only a moment of joy but also a powerful statement of inclusion, compassion, and equality.
Children were warmly welcomed to take part in traditional Avurudu games and customs, with sign language interpreters and visual cues ensuring that every activity was accessible. Their smiles and laughter reflected the true spirit of the season, showing that cultural traditions become richer when shared without barriers. Alongside the festivities, Signal and Manusath Derana gifted school supplies and festive hampers, while also recognizing the children's talents in art, dance, and drama. By focusing on ability rather than disability, the program empowered the students with dignity and confidence.
The presence of volunteers, sponsors, and media coverage helped bridge the gap between the hearing-impaired community and wider society, breaking down stigma and fostering empathy. By showcasing the event on national platforms, the initiative raised awareness and reinforced the importance of accessibility in cultural life.
This celebration directly aligns with SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, ensuring that children with disabilities are not excluded from traditions, while also reducing disparities by providing resources and recognition. මේ සිංහල හා දෙමළ නව වසරේදී, මනුසත් දෙරණ, සිග්නල් සහ අද දෙරණ එඩියුකේෂන් ඩිජිටල් එක්ව “සිග්නල් හපන් සිනා ” නමින් රත්මලාන ශ්රවණ ඌනතා ඇති දරුවන්ගේ පාසලේ දී ඔවුන්ටම කැපවූ උත්සවයක් පැවැත්වුවා. මේ අවුරුදු උත්සවය සතුට උදෙසා පමණක් නොව, සමාජයේ සමානත්වය, කරුණාව සහ එකමුතුවේ බලවත් පණිවිඩයක් ලබාදෙන හෘදයාංගම වැඩසටහනක් වුවා.
මනුසත් දෙරණ විසින් මෙම වැඩසටහන පසුගිය වසරේද පවත්වන ලද අතර මෙම වසරේද පැවැත්වුවේ මෙම දරුවනට සමාජයේ පිළිගැනිම හා අවස්ථා වර්ධනය කිරීම උදෙසා මෙම සංකල්පයේ ඇති අතිශය වැදගත් කම නිසායි.
දරුවන්ට සම්ප්රදායික අවුරුදු ක්රීඩාවලට සහභාගී වීමටත් සතුට සැමරීමටත් අවස්ථාවන් උදාවු අතර . සංකේත භාෂා පරිවර්තකයන් සහ දෘශ්ය සලකුණු මගින් සියලු ක්රියාකාරකම් සෑම දරුවෙකුටම පහසු කළා. ඔවුන්ගේ සිනා සහ සතුට නව වසරේ සැබෑ අර්ථය පෙන්වූවා. උත්සවය සමග, සිග්නල්, අද දෙරණ එඩියුකේෂන් ඩිජිටල් සහ මනුසත් දෙරණ එක්ව අවුරුදු තෑගි බෙදා දුන්නා. දරුවන්ගේ නර්තන, රංගන සහ කලා දක්ෂතාද ප්රදර්ශනය කලා. “අසමත් බව” නොව “සමත් බව” මත අවධානය යොමු කිරීමෙන්, දරුවන්ට ගෞරවය සහ විශ්වාසය ලබා දුන්නා.
